LON-NYC… but which way?

12/06/2012 by Kevincm

London to New York as we all know is one heck of a trafficked route with nearly every man and his dog trying to fly back and forth there profitably.

a map of the world

Image – Great Circle Mapper

Looking to the map and actual airports, here’s a map of the routes – for once, I’m excluding anything that requires a connection

a map of the world

The list:

London Heathrow – New York John F. Kennedy International Airport

  • American Airlines
  • British Airways
  • Delta Airlines
  • Kuwait Airways
  • Virgin Atlantic

London City Airport – New York John F. Kennedy International Airport

  • British Airways

London Heathrow – Newark International (We’ll call it New York Area for sake of argument)

  • British Airways
  • United Airlines (Ex Continental Routes)
  • Virgin Atlantic

And as we all know, New York La Guardia is out of the question due to perimeter rules and other silly things. London Gatwick (surprisingly) no longer has a link to New York when I did this research today.

But there are so many ways to cut it carriers to choose with all alliances represented. But which way am I going on my next trip?

That my dear readers is to remain my little secret – for the moment 😉

However, in August, please join me for “Creating an Image: Back to New York with …”.  Nope – still not letting on 😉

But it’s an excuse for a Poll….

So how is Kevin going to get to New York?

  • He's swimming or rowing there. (29%, 28 Votes)
  • Flying the BabyBus across the pond with BA - LCY-JFK (28%, 27 Votes)
  • Flying the other Flag with Virgin Atlantic - LHR to JFK or EWR (11%, 11 Votes)
  • Flying the flag with British Airways - LHR to JFK or EWR (9%, 9 Votes)
  • Budget is everything with Kuwait Airways - LHR-JFK (9%, 9 Votes)
  • Flying the United skies with United Airlines - LHR to EWR (5%, 5 Votes)
  • Crossing to the dAArk side with American - LHR to JFK (4%, 4 Votes)
  • Smoking is not allowed on Delta - LHR-JFK (4%, 4 Votes)

Total Voters: 97

Kevin should go off the board and fly LHR->JFK on Icelandair via KEF 🙂

Fly to either CPH or ARN and then to EWR on SAS!

My bet is BA LHR-JFK in order to try out his new BA gold card

    Good guesses so far.

I’m still keeping stum. For a few weeks at least 😉

I really hope it’s Kuwait, but my vote went to the Babybus, now you’re a GCH.

New idea: go via BRU to try out SN’s new C/Y product on their A333

    I voted for swimming/rowing though 😛
