It seems that conditions are very tough out there, with Air Nostrum throwing in the towel on the Manchester-Madrid and Glasgow-Madrid services.
The services are being pulled after the towards the end of the UK Summer season (just before schools re-commence)
- Glasgow-Madrid terminates 30/08/2012
- Manchester-Madrid terminates 14/09/2012
Lack of demand has been cited by Air Nostrum for the major reason to cancel the services.
It seems the plan to use these services to build up more UK <> South America traffic via Madrid hasn’t paid off as well, which feeds into the demand issue.
For those of you looking to Madrid for some sun, from Glasgow, you’ll need to connect via another destination. Manchester will fair slightly better with services offered by EasyJet – although these services will be reduced due to the closure of the EasyJet base at Madrid.
