I like to fare hunt – it’s almost a sport in itself. When I fare hunt, mad ideas start to form, and gel (the like of which normally ends with me having a bad back for weeks after walking around cities for hours).
But anyway, I did a bit of hunting and digging and found a little gem for the mid-end of hundreds of Euros (and it’s still live from the looks of it – fiddle with the dates in November and see what happens on BA.com)
The breakdown:
- 90 Tier Points (10 + 35 + 35 + 10)
- 26784 Avios (1434 + 11958 + 11958 + 1434)
Considering buying 24,000 Avios is £399, and I’ve paid just over that for 26,000+ Avios, this is an Avios run rather than a full-on TP run. So this a rare case of flying is easier than collecting Avios via another way.
Not bad, but most of you know this map is nowhere near complete – least of all I have to position to/from Barcelona.
There’s also another issue on the table: Taipei has been on my eyeball list for sometime – least of all, there is Taipei 101 which could mean EVA Air if I sort out that part of the trip.
And with EVA Air comes… Hello Kitty Jet.
Let it never be said that I don’t like variety in my trips :).
And booking tickets at 2am in the morning probably leads to lots of ideas I really shouldn’t think of 😉
Tune in November/December for Hong Kong 3: The BA Way

Is your calculation based on having elite status netting double miles? Because the number of qualifying miles is only half of that….
Kevincm says
Correct. I’ve also factored in the BA Gold Elite bonuses too (Fare type is N)
Tier Points are rubbish, but I’ll live with it…
