Thai Airways set to get their first A380 on 27th September

29/08/2012 by Kevincm

I’ve done my fair share of chatting about the 787 – lets switch to the other “new” jet in the sky – the Airbus A380, and in particular, Thai Airways.

Thai Airways is due to take delivery of their first Airbus A380 on the 27th September, and will be starting to put them into service extremely quickly on the 6th October, operating from Bangkok to Hong Kong and Singapore.

Upon the 2nd A380 arriving this will allow Thai to fly their WhaleJets on the Bangkok to Frankfurt route daily from mid-December.

As extra aircraft flow in, routes from Bangkok to  Tokyo Narita and Paris from February 2013.

Seating configurations have been firmed up with the following set up:

507 passengers,

  • 12 in Royal First Class (configured as pitch of 83 inches and a width of 26.5 inches) on the upper deck
  • 60 in Royal Silk Class (business class configured with a pitch of 74 inches and a width of 20 inches) on the upper deck
  • 435 in economy spread across the entire lower deck with some seats on the upper deck

A total of 507 passengers will be accommodated.

Thai has an order of six Airbus A380’s, with the fleet delivered by the end of 2013.

Well – it’s another new plane and another new configuration to explore. Fun times ahead!

I’ve got seat 1A booked on BKK-FRA A380 next summer. I’m looking forward to it.
