On Friday, LAN Chille had its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner handed over and delivered by Boeing, making it the 4th operator of the 787 family.

Whilst LAN have order 32 of the 787 type (spit into 22 787-8’s and 10 787-9’s), the airline will be receiving three of the batch this year, with the balance of the two aircraft to be delivered during the year.
LAN’s 787 are powered by Rolls Royce Trent 1000 power plants, configured with:
- 30 seats in Business Class in 2-2-2, with 15.4″ IFE screen with a new design flat seat.
- 217 seats in Economy Class in 3-3-3, with 9″ IFE screen
The In-Flight Entertainment system will be based on the Panasonic EX2 system – allowing iPod/iPhone/iPad integration on a touch screen system.
In terms of deployment, look towards Lima – Los Angeles as the first deployment. Other cities which will be targets for 787 traffic include:
- Buenos Aires
- Frankfurt
- Madrid
- Santiago

You meant 4th right?
ANA
JAL
Ethiopian
All have theirs already
Who’s next?
Kevincm says
Oops. My math is bad. 4th indeed – corrected.
I’d say United is next – unless Air India get in rather quick…
Kerwin says
:-).
Have you flown it as yet?
Kevincm says
For once I can say an unequivocal YES to getting one of the early flights operated by ANA on their first internationally configured aircraft from FRA-HND.
In business class – Nothing like what were BMI redemptions.
See http://economyclassandbeyond.boardingarea.com/2012/03/12/farewell-miles-with-ana-thai-and-asiana-ana-787-frankfurt-to-tokyo-hnd/ for my take on the 787.
