Boeing’s launch parter for the 787 – All Nippon Airlines – has put in an order with Boeing for 11 more 787’s.
ANA has selected the 787-9 variant of the Dreamliner for this order.
For ANA, the fleet is to replace its existing Boeing 767’s and Boeing 777-200’s – whilst expanding the airlines route network, more seats and the fuel savings this aircraft promises.
When all the aircraft are delivered, this will bring ANA’s 787 fleet to 66 aircraft – 36 787-8 and 30 787-9’s
ANA currently operates the Boeing 787-8 on on eight domestic Japanese routes and on the Tokyo Haneda-Frankfurt run. The airline will be converting the Narita to Seattle route from the 1st October 2012, and Haneda to Beijing from 28th October Narita to San Jose will also be commencing in January.
For my take on ANA’s internationally configured Boeing 787, have a look at my trip report “Farewell Miles (Part 4)“, where I look at the 787 experience in Business Class… and rather like the experience. The aircraft.. less so…
