Lets go back to our troubled friend in India – Kingfisher Airlines who seem to be back in trouble again.
After pruning back their network, having their Oneworld membership suspended shortly before it was due to join, failing to pay staff and disagreements with the Indian Aviation authorities, Kingfisher is battling once again with its employees.
The unreset from the employees due to not being paid came to a head when engineers at Delhi beat up a member of Kingfisher management and stranded passengers on one arriving aircraft by several hours when they refused to connect the airbridge linking the plane to the terminal.
Following that incident, most of Kingfishers pilots and engineers went on strike (on Monday) in protest in not being paid for six months, with the airline responding with a 3 day lock-out.
The Indian Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh told the airline that it would not be allowed to operate if safety rules were not being observed.
All Kingfisher flights are currently suspended pending restart of operations. If you have flights booked with the airline, look to rebook elsewhere until this settles down.
One thing that will be operating bar an operational emergency is the Star MegaDO Flight!
