Glasgow Airport today had an emergency incident where a Jet2 flight declared an emergency as it was preparing for take off.
The flight – LS117 operating a Glasgow to Alicante was operated by a Boeing 737 made an emergency sop on the runway prior to take off due to smoke in the cabin at 07:40 BST.
The emergency slides were deployed for evacuation with all 189 passenger evacuated by slide. However 17 people were injured during the evacuation, with four people were taken to hospital and another 13 people received treatment at the scene for minor injuries.
Jet2 says:
“We are currently dealing with an ongoing incident at Glasgow Airport involving a 737 aircraft following reports of smoke within the cabin.
“Emergency services are in attendance and the passengers have been evacuated as a precaution.”
A statement from Jet2 said: “This morning’s flight LS177 from Glasgow Airport to Alicante made an emergency stop on the runway just prior to take-off.
“The aircraft was forced to curtail take-off due to smoke in the cabin.
“All 189 passengers have disembarked the aircraft.”
Departures and arrivals have been hit, with 20 departures delayed, 12 arrivals diverted and 1 cancellation
