The route to Paris is set to get a whole lot bigger as Malaysia Airlines is set to introduce A380 operations from Kuala Lumpur to Paris.
The route which is currently operated by a Boeing 777-200 will be switched over to Airbus A380 operation from the 1st March 2013.
The schedule for the flights is as below:
MH20 DEPART KUL 23:50 ARRIVE CDG 06:10+1 MH21 DEPART CDG 12:00 ARRIVE KUL 07:10+1 Operates: Daily Equipment: Boeing 777-200 to 28th February 2013 Airbus A380 from 1st March 2013
In terms of capacity, this is going to be a very big step up, with the A380 operating:
- 8 First Class Seats (Lower Deck)
- 66 Business Class Seats (Upper Deck)
- 420 seats on in economy on both the Lower and upper deck
It seems Malaysia thinks there is demand to fill those seats. It’ll interesting to see if they do.
Malaysia Airlines currently operate the only direct service between Kuala Lumpur to Paris, with Air France-KLM offering a 1 stop service via Amsterdam. Of course, most of the big Middle Eastern Carriers offer a 1 stop service too, with other 1 stop options open if you dig hard enough.
For those thinking of redemptions, everything is pointing to Malaysia Airlines joining oneworld sooner rather than later – this could provide a nice Air Passenger Duty free way of flying to the Far East…

840 seats total in Economy? No way.

Ooops. Tided up the wording to say 420 Economy seats on Upper and Lower Deck.
Although Air Austral was planning an 800+ Seater A380 – all economy. That isn’t going ahead thankfully!!!
