In the wake of the Joint Business Agreement split-up by Qantas and BA, Qantas has gone off with new partner Emirates, whilst British Airways has decided it seems to spend time with Cathay Pacific.
As a result, the following routes from/to Hong Kong will have BA flight codes added, and operated by Cathay Pacific.
- Hong Kong <> Brisbane
- Hong Kong – Brisbane – Cairns – Hong Kong
- Hong Kong <> Melbourne
- Hong Kong <> Perth
- Hong Kong <> Sydney
As well as offering this “hop” on the Kangaroo route, British Airways also operates a service via Singapore on BA15/BA16, which is currently operated by Boeing 747-400’s, and soon to be switched to their newish Boeing 777-300ER’s.
I’ve got my opinions of both the current BA Boeing Boeing 747-400, and the upcoming Boeing 777-300ER (as well as BA16 service which I flew a few years ago for the bargain price of £215 return) – in Economy, it’s not that bad.
Get the right flight crew on these legs, and there are worse ways of travelling these ultra-long haul routes.
