Qatar Airways have trimmed two of its new routes due to a lack of aircraft.
Firstly, the route between Doha and Chengdu which was due to commence on the 19th March has been suspended to a later date (with no confirmation of when the route will now commence).
Meanwhile the Doha – Chicago route will commence as on the 10th April as a three times a week service on the following schedule:
QR991 DEPART DOH 09:15 ARRIVE ORD 15:5 QR992 DEPART ORD 20:55 ARRIVE DOH 18:25+1 Commences: 10/04/2013 Operates: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday Booked Equipment: Boeing 777-300ER Operates through to: 16/06/2013 (pending switch to daily service)
Qatar Airways is hoping to allow the service to go daily from 17th June, pending aircraft availability.
So why is Qatar Airways low on aircraft? The answer can be traced to our good friend, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. As the 787’s remain grounded, Qatar is chopping and changing the rollout of routes as well as the capacity.
Qatar Airways have 5 of the 50 commercial 787 fleet that are grounded at this time.
