Update: retracted according to ATW – http://atwonline.com/airline-finance-data/news/china-airlines-launch-lcc-taiwan-0314
That would been interesting… Very interesting. Oh well.
There’s still is the question of how Taiwanese airlines will tackle the low cost carriers….
China Airlines of Taiwan (as opposed to Air China which is based in China) is to set up a Low Cost Carrier with fellow Taiwanese airline TransAsia Airways, in response to other LCC’s from other territories.
Details and timelines are sketchy to be honest, with no startup date, ownership splits and even a name yet.
In terms of aircraft, in the new airline will look to order six Airbus A320 or A321 aircraft, with the aim of operating the aircraft in Asia and towards Hawaii.
Another interesting option could be opening up here in terms of low cost carriers in the Far East Asia region, with the recent growth of LCC’s in the area (most of which have a involvement of a legacy airline).
How it will cope with the juggernaut known as Air Asia is a completely different question..

well…I’m Taiwanese and I would never take China Airlines…it was the national airline and if you google the top 10 most deadiest airlines, this is always #1…. every once in a while a wing breaks off or the engine catches on fire…They better buy some new aircraft coz nobody in my family is willing to take China Airlines~!
