Those of you who were hoping Jetstar Hong Kong would take off will now have to wait a little longer it seems.
Jetstar Hong Kong was due to commence services mid 2013 – now it seems this is delayed until the end of the year.
This is due to regulatory issues with both the Hong Kong and Chinese Governments which have been in a state of change recently.
Jetstar Hong Kong is a joint venture between Qantas and China Eastern Airways, and will operate Airbus A320 aircraft.
As such, the Jetstar Hong Kong route map is looking bare, with other Jetstar subsidiaries feeding into Hong Kong International airport. When the airline does start up, it is examining routes with a radius of up to 5 hours from the fragrant harbour.
It’s a bit of a set back for Jetstar, as Asian LCC’s seem to be on the rise. Hopefully this delay won’t damage the airline’s chances too much….

The Chinese government has already approved the new airline. The problem is from the HK side…
