13/04/2013 by Kevincm

LionAir Flight JT904 from Bandung to Denpasar (Bali/Indonesia) today landed short of the runway at Denpasar, ending up in the ocean about short of runway 09.

All passengers and crew survived the impact, however there are at least seven passengers who were with head wounds and broken bones, whilst most passengers only had with wet clothes and bruises.

101 passengers and 7 crew were aboard in the incident.

The plane itself – PK-LKS, a Boeing 737-800 – has split in two with a major rupture on the top rear of the fuselage

The cause of the accident is still unclear and crash investigators are preparing to launch an inquiry.

AVHerald has continuing and developing news on the crash with excellent analysis.

However, the main thing is that everyone escaped with their lives… and that’s a darn good thing.
