So you’re heading aboard a BA 747. And apart from 1A/1K, you know you’re turning right and heading to the back of the plane.
Which seat did you pick? Which one was there a hot fight over? British Airways seems to have the answers in this latest bit of fluff PR….
- Window pips aisle in popularity (BA receives six per cent more bookings for window seats than aisle)
- Twin seats 51/52B, 51/52C, 51/52H and 51/52J most sought-after economy seats (Well… jumping over two people to get an isle or one person… that should be easy for anyone… give me a pair any day of the week..
- Aisle seats more popular at the front and window seats more popular at the back
- More people prefer the right hand side of the aircraft to the left ( When choosing, 54 per cent of economy customers choose to sit on the right versus 46 per cent choosing to sit on the left.)
Looking in the premium classes, there are no surprises:
- In Club World, 62A and K and 64A and K are the popular seats on the upper deck (although 63J/K isn’t THAT bad ;)), although the upper deck is favoured due to the “quieter mini cabin environment”
- In First, 1A and 1F are your friends aboard a 747-400.
Well… That’s… umm interesting research. Speaking personally (and on almost any flight at all) :
- Right hand side going East Bound.
- Left hand side going West Bound.
- A pair is better than a threesome.
- And a window seat trumps all.
So what’s your favourite seat on a plane? Model, Airline and Seat number if you’d be so kind… 😉

I like to have a window seat on the side away from the sun so I can leave my window open and look out.

aisle
I prefer not asking 1 or 2 people if I ever want to get up
plus some more leg room =]

Agree with Stephen. Contrary to Kevin many people prefer not to sit on the sunny side eastbound or westbound.

Several rows behind the wing, on the window seat of course.
On 737/A320 that is usually 17-19 A or F.
On 747’s where it tapers off into two seats, the window is great. On A330/A340/B767 the window with only one seat next door is great.
I will take right side when possible cause its cool to go to a second aisle unlike a normal narrowbody. I’ll also consider runway orientation and good views when attempting to choose a side of the plane.

Great Post. Wondering if you can also give some advice on best seat in a Delta 747-400s business elite as well as economy.
