Etihad switches to Boeing 777-300ER for New York Service

07/05/2013 by Kevincm

Etihad will be changing their deployment from Abu Dhabi to New York JFK, shifting from A340-500 operation to Boeing 777-300ER’s flying the route.

The daily from 1st June 2013 with 777-300 equipment configured as:

– 8 Diamond First Class seats
– 40 Pearl Business Class seats
– 280 Coral Economy Class seats

As well as all the usual onboard amenities, the plane will feature WiFi Internet access for those who need to be connected whilst in flight. Diamond Class will get complimentary access – whilst all other classes will have to pay up.

Wifi is being rolled out through the Etihad fleet, with the aim for installation by end of 2014.

For those considering a hop over to the United Arab Emirates and need to be connected for the flight, this could be a good option for you…

Very interesting… Any word on the 777 on the IAD route?

Doesn’t the 777 with Etihad have Economy seating that is 3-4-3? I remember taking it for a short hop from DAC to AUH and it was quite tight in the economy section.

I have a nasty feeling you’re right… In which case, the wifi will help as a distraction…

This is good stuff. Does anyone know, if Etihad have plans to operate this route on A380 once they get delivered?

I think it is a downgrade in comfort and premium seats (with upgrade in number of economy seats to connect to low fare markets in Asia)
EY flies junk aircraft to Asia esp India from Abu Dhabi (much like domestic US flights), but these are often late night flights.

The QR flights are on the 330s while EY is 320/319
I can’t wait for QR to join OW.
