What’s that Skippy? Frequent flyer Points… for pets on Virgin Australia?

01/07/2013 by Kevincm

Virgin Australia have announced the first frequent flyer points scheme for pets it seems. So Cat and Dogs can now earn you Velocity Points.

For those pets heading into the hold, you can earn for up to two carriers (with bonuses for those pet owners who have Virgin Velocity status):

Pet Carriers Red Silver Gold Platinum
1 300 450 525 600
2 600 900 1,050 1,200

Earning is in Virgin Velocity points

Points are not awarded for:
– Unaccompanied pets
– Pets on International Routes
– Service dogs that travel in the cabin

Points are award within 14 days after completion of travel.

Well, it certainly is a different way of rewarding passengers and pets too, adding some more value to the programme, whilst encouraging those passenger who want to take their pets with them to do so

And all those Velocity points do add up.

In related spin, Virgin Austrlia has a competition for it’s first four-legged ambassador. Head to https://www.facebook.com/VelocityFrequentFlyer?sk=app_451684954848385&app_data=dlt-1 – and providing your animal and you are residents of Australia… anything is possible!

Flying cats and dogs for Virgin Australia frequent flyer points is great, but do they also award points for flying Dingos and Tasmanian Devils?
