BMI Regional continues to power ahead since Sector Aviation took over last year. This segment of BMI always had a good on-time performance (which can be somewhat attributed not flying in and out of Heathrow), and according to FlightsOnTime.info – are the most punctual airline over the past 12 months.
The airline achieved a 94.6% on-time arrival rate, with BA Cityflyer unit coming second with 87.4% on-time arrivals .
FlightsonTime method sources CAA data and calculates rates based within 15 minutes of scheduled arrival tine, and the average length of delays (with an average delay of less than 5 minutes).
BMI Regional CEO Cathal O’Connell said in a statement:
“On-time departures and arrivals are vital for both our business and leisure passengers and we’re determined to maintain our record as the UK’s most punctual scheduled airline, a plaudit we’ve retained for eight consecutive years, as we continue to expand. It’s testimony to the dedication and team work of the entire bmi regional staff and the efforts of our airport partners that we continue to provide unrivalled punctuality.”

BMI Regional operates a fleet of 18 Embraer ERJ-145 and ERJ-135 aircraft, and has been building its route network slowly as it is now an independent airline. Whilst it still has close ties with Star Alliance, it has been expanding routes from Birmingham Airport and Bristol Airport, whilst strengthening its existing services.
And it’s good to see BMI Regional on its own feet.
