EasyJet firms up A320neo/ceo Order

12/07/2013 by Kevincm

Easyjet has firmed up its agreement with Airbus over its next aircraft order – which has been agreed at shareholder level to purchase its new fleet

The new fleet being ordered will be made up 135 Airbus A320 series aircraft split into two batches:

  • 35 A320ceo  (current engine option)
  • 100 A320neo (New engine option)

Easyjet also has options for 100 further aircraft.

Both aircraft will feature sharklets (options on the ceo, standard on the neo), although the engine type for these planes has not been decided yet (The offerings are  Prat & Whitney’s PW1100G  CFM International’s LEAP engine).

There has been some boardroom scuffles at Easyjet, with its found Stelios Haji-Ioannou using his shareholdings to vote against the fleet-renewal plan, with 57% in favour of the order and 43% against.

Still, the new aircraft are arriving – which is good for the passenger experience
