For those of you in the United Kingdom who shop at Tesco, their current Clubcard collection period is coming to an end on Saturday 20th July.
To ensure that your Clubcard points hit your account by the deadline ensure any spend is complete by Thursday 18th July as it takes 2 days for spend to hit your account. Any other spend might not hit in time and may be carried forward to the next collection period.
Tesco Clubcard points are convertible into useful mileage or travel currencies such as:
- Avios via British Airways Executive Club or Avios.com
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Miles
- Monarch Airways
- Red Spotted Hanky (for Rail Travel)
- Le Shuttle
- And many other things…
As always, value is where you find it, be it in travel items, Avios, Monarch vouchers or even use the vouchers for your shopping.
So far, there has been nothing special announced from Avois/Flying Club/Monarch etc, so my advice is to convert only expiring Clubcard vouchers (Vouchers are valid for 2 years from issue) if you have to spend vouchers. Otherwise – if you’re after Avios (and bonus Avios in particular), I’d wait to see if a bonus promotion opens up…
Then again, if something opens up, I’ll let you know. It’s been quite some time since the last major uplift of Avios….
A quick look at my archives shows the last Tesco to Avios bonus launched on 16 July 2012 and ran to 31 August. We can but hope to wake up to something tomorrow, but don’t bet on it!
I’m not holding my breath either… Good thing my vouchers expire long onto 2014…
