Wizz Air has decided to permanently move back to Warsaw Chopin (the main airport at Waraw), and abandon Warsaw Modlin Airport.
Warsaw Modlin Airport – an ex-military field converted for civilian use was opened in June 2012 as an airport low-cost carriers in Poland, but was closed within six months to large aircraft such as the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 – which are the aircraft Wizz Air and Ryanair (the primary users of the airport) were using – forcing everyone back to Chopin.
The runway was closed due to safety reasons, with the runways, with the runway relaid and ILS under testing.
The airport reopened on the 4th July – but no major airline has returned since the opening at the moment. Ryanair is planning to return to Modlin from the 3rd of September (according to their on-line schedule).
But that’s a lot of time for an airport to have no planes and customers go through – along with one of your customers abandoning you for the old hub…

I know this is the North American in me but Wizz Air is probably the worst name for an airline…
