For those of you in the South West Pacific area (Australia and New Zealand) who were BMI Diamond Club card holders, you’ve been in the cold waiting when you could unfreeze you destination miles and use them.
Well there’s good news… and bad news as accounts are now unfrozen.
There’s three options on the table for you:
- If you’re an existing BA Executive Club member outside Australia and New Zealand, you can transfer the destination miles out.
- You can become a “Temporary Member” of British Airways Executive Club to transfer and burn off your Destination Miles into Avois. However – and this is a big however – You’ve got until 31st December 2013 to burn them. After that time, any remaining miles will be expired and your account closed.
- You can transfer your miles to another Executive Club member
Diamond Club miles will be converted at a 1:1 ratio to Avios.
The full FAQ is at https://www.diamondclub.org/iloyal-MemberPortal/mportal/faqFlow?execution=e3s1#21 and I strongly advise you read it if you’re affected. It also has links to get your temporary accounts only or miles transferred.
It is also important to note that there will be no permanent membership of British Airways Executive Club for Australia and New Zealand residents. This is disappointing for those wanted an option for their hard-earned miles other than Qantas Frequent Flyer.
And mad too that they can’t extend Executive Club membership into these countries.
