Thai Airways prepares to introduce double A380’s on Bangkok to Tokyo route…

02/08/2013 by Kevincm

Thai Airways is preparing to shift its 2/3’s of its Bangkok to Tokyo services to us Airbus A380’s a good month and a bit earlier, with a new start date of 27th October 2013 (instead of 1st December).

The new time-table looks like this:

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi - Tokyo Narita
TG676 DEPART BKK 08:00 ARRIVE NRT 15:50 A380
TG640 DEPART BKK 22:35 ARRIVE NRT 06:15+1 A380
TG642 DEPART BKK 23:55 ARRIVE NRT 07:35+1 A346

Tokyo Narita - Bangkok Suvarnabhumi
TG641 DEPART NRT 10:45 ARRIVE BKK 15:45 A380
TG643 DEPART NRT 11:45 ARRIVE BKK 16:45 A346
TG677 DEPART NRT 17:30 ARRIVE BKK 22:30 A380

Commences 27th October 2013.
Equipment booked as above

Notes: A380 = Airbus A380
       A346 = Airbus A340-600

Flight 667/666 is currently operated by an A380.

The two A380s replace an existing Airbus A340-600 and a Boeing 777-300ER that currently serve the route.

For those who want to experience a Thai Airways A380 on a semi frequent route, this could be a good route to try out. In addition, this will be one hell of a capacity boost in all travel classes.

Great news, I hope it leads to plentiful award seats and many colorful rimowa kits.

FWIW, “introduce” is a little misleading as TG has had an A380 on this route for quite some time already, servicing the ~5pm departure from NRT.

Thanks – I wasn’t aware of the first A380 service.

I was in F in the leased 777 on this route in April. It was a nice suite. Any idea where that plane will go?

Thai nationals don’t need a visit anymore to visit Japan. This change occurred a few months ago. Looks like TG is trying to capture the Thais desire to travel to Japan.

Seems Thai is enjoying a game of “Swap the equipment around”… Again.
