British Airways has flown its first Airbus A380 commercially, and is beginning to operate the plane between London Heathrow T5 and Frankfurt am Main Airport T2.
For a great review on the new A380, check out ContinentalClub’s blog post at http://blog.continentalclub.co.uk/flights/british-airways-airbus-a380-first-commercial-flight-video/
Typically, they will be operating the A380 on flight BA902/903 – the fight number operates daily:
BA902 DEPART LHR 06:45 ARRIVE FRA 0930 BA903 DEPART FRA 11:10 ARRIVE LHR 1150 Booked Equipment: VARIES!
The A380 is listed to operate on MONDAY 4th August at the moment, with availability shifting.
BA910/911 is also listed as a possible A380 flight
BA is NOT making a big song and dance about the entrance to service about aircraft. this unlike other airlines who introduced the A380 into service in case there is NO aircraft available.
Thus, booking capacity will be at 150 seats – less than shorthaul Boeing 767-300 can hold, what an A320 can if a swap out is needed.
Similarly, BA’s 787 will ply the London – Stockholm route on the BA780/781 route (again replacing a 767). Services are meant to commence on the 9th August, however – Booked equipment is varying.
So the bottom line is: Do you feel lucky? If you’re considering these flights, DO NOT ASSUME THAT an A380 or B787 WILL OPERATE.
Because if you do, and you’re unlucky, you’ll end up on of BA’s stellar fleet of Boeing 767’s….

Hello,
I am not sure as to why an Airbus A380 would be used for LHR to FRA? When it is about 2hours of flying.
Kindly advise,
Thanks & Regards,
Kyle

Short flights such as LHR-FRA are great for crew training flights, or mileage accumulation flights with new airplanes.
