I must admit, there have been times when I’ve flown British Airways, and I’ve been a tiny bit frustrated over service (or a lack of it). There are other times that service aboard their planes has blown me away (in both Club World and World Traveller.
Now, the normal method of thanking staff is to file a www.ba.com/welldone…. and I’ve got to admit – sometimes I feel it isn’t enough to fill in a post that one day might get to someone if we’re lucky.
Last year, BA piloted a scheme which in my opinion is a LOT better – the Golden Ticket
Whilst I’m not aware of the actual benefits of the system to the staff, the idea of a Golden ticket is to reward exceptional service. An as I’ve stated time and again, crew can make or break a flight. Get a cruddy crew, and it’s an unpleasant way to spend 8 hours in the day. Get a great crew – and the trip goes that bit too fast. And there are times, when filling in that form just isn’t rewarding in my book.
Golden ticket was trialled with some BA Gold Guest List members, and the scheme seemed to work, so they rolled it out us mere Golds.
So I was kind of expecting an envelope from BA…. and it arrived
After a bit of a fight to get into the envelope (best glue I’ve seen in a while), there was a letter… and a Golden ticket inside with a letter
The letter has the usual PR stuff (talking about the new A380’s and B787’s coming onto the fleet, but it also gives information about the programme.
This is a nice, simple and quick way to thank BA staff – and my only complaint about this: I’ve only got one Golden Ticket to give away – which is a shame because I’ve had some flights where I could had given 3 or 4 of these away.
Put it like this: When I’m flying BA next, I hope I find a member of staff who I think has gone the extra mile and deserves an extra thank-you.
