American Airlines has been adjusting its timetable in the background, with plans afoot to replace the existing Boeing 767-200 aircrafh which operate the New York to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Miami.
The current last dates the Boeing 767-200 operation depend on the route according to Airlineroute – http://airlineroute.net/2013/09/22/aa-76232b-s14/ :
– AA179/020 New York JFK – San Francisco 31st March 2014
– AA117/002, AA021/030 – New York JFK – Los Angeles 7th May 2014
– AA1345/1508 New York JFK – Miami 07MAY14
Miami will switch to Boeing 757 operation, whilst both Los Angeles and San Francisco will switch to American Airlines new Airbus A321s.
With this, there is one hell of a timetable change,
New York Los Angels will operate 13 services a day (going down to 11 services a day on Saturdays)
The ramp-up begins on 1st April 2014, with 9 out of 11 running with A321s, 2 with 767-200s, 12 services from the 2nd June 2014, and 13 service from 11th June 2014, creating an hourly shuttle between the two cities.
Meanwhile, New York San Francisco will maintain its four daily services initially. From the 1st April 2014, this will be operated with three Airbus A321’s and one Boeing 767-300ER (not to be confused with with the withdrawing 767-200). This will continue until 11th June, where the service switches to five flights in both directions a day operated with their premium A321s.
Even with a projected 102 seats per plane, that’s still a LOT of capacity on the New York – LA, with a peak offering of 1326 seats each way per day, and San Francisco offering 510 seats each way a day.
And considering these are going to be premium planes, loaded with:
– 10 First Seats
– 20 Business Seats
– 36 Main Cabin Extra
– 36 Main Cabin Seats
That’s still lot of space to fill between the cities…
Is that as big an upgrade from SFO as it feels like?
