For some, these are like gold-dust. Seriously. The only things more converted that these in the aviation world are the Rimowa Amenity Kits.
What am I talking about? The Lufthansa First Class Terminal Rubber Ducks
Now, I won this from Lucky at TravelMagic (who landed it on my head too. A Lucky shot there indeed – stop the groaning down the back) for guessing an answer correctly of where to get space on Lufthansa First.
However, I’m a bit guilty from winning it as I like to collect stuff. Therefore, I’m giving it away!
To win this prime piece of squeaky quacking rubbery ducky goodness, branded by Lufthansa, all you have to do is in the comments box below

Singapore Airlines Stationery kits
Playing cards from Northwest Orient Airlines.
A bottle of dessert wine to take home on LH.
Got a bottle of Tattinger Champagne the most recent trip – it was definitely a special thing.
Triple op-up when I was 18 on EVA Air from economy to First class on a B747 (skipped premium economy and business!)
I guess the most amusing freebie was few years ago on US Airways. I was booked on economy for PHL-CLT, previously did check in in MUC for MUC-PHL, where they assigned not so good seat. Asked for emergency row at transit desk and US rep said “Oh, that would be 25USD”, I said “No”, but then she said, “Oh, but you are UA Gold, I could up you on waitlist for F…” and that cleared instantly, got 1C. At gate noticed, that there were still people on waitlist… and I was actually ticketed in X (award class). Not bad at all ๐
But from the things, I guess the most amusing one was on TG, when I was flying extremely old A300-600 on BKK-MNL route in C and there was no entertainment. I asked if the FA could then sign or dance for me… and she came back a minute later to give me a TG Kid’s Puzzle… ๐
And regarding something edible… Some years ago BT (Air Baltic), which is otherwise BOB-service, gave over Christmas time free gingerbread cookie on the plane.
EVA Air green Rimowa Amenity Kit.
Singapore Airlines socks…
The LH Rimowa amenity kits!
I used to love the wings and coloring/sticker books they used to give kids back in the day…
A paper airplane from United in the 80s.
When traveling on an AA flight to Aruba, I mentioned to the FA how much my 2 year-old daughter liked the warm nuts. On the way out, she handed me a bag filled with a tray full of the nuts.
A Box of Chocolate on Lufthansa because the FA felt bad that I don’t drink.
My yellow LH rubber duck!
Delicious chocolate on a LH flight because the flight attendant noticed our breakfast meat portion was skimpy.
Got a free box of chocolates and a personalized note from the entire plane crew while flying biz from NRT to SGN on JAL for our honeymoon. I thought it was pretty neat, considering we were awake for only 20 minutes of the 6 hour flight!
I flew business class this past summer on All Nippon. The flight attendant in my section was great. She surprised me with a set of pajamas from first class. When I woke up from a nap, there was a collection of origami animals waiting for me.
I was actually able to talk a LH flight attendant into getting me a F pajama top while I was flying in C.
Airlines never give me anything ๐
A bottle of the white wine I was enjoying during my flight. Great FA with excellent service. Rubber Ducky your the one…!
4 pairs of Qantas Pyjamas and 4 Business Class Amenity Kits!
Won a full size bottle of tequila on a charter flight back from the Bahamas. They randomly picked my seat number.
I have an Iphone 4 case and a carrybag from Asiana that I think is pretty great!
A good old fashioned deck of Northwest playing cards
Shanghai Tang pajamas from CX first class.
K LM. House decanter

thanks!
Pewter bookmarker from Malaysian Airlines during my first trip in biz many moons ago. Or my awesome Shanghai Tang PJ’s from CX F.
A set of NWA mugs given to me by an FA right before all the NWA branding was going to be “disappeared” by Delta!
That has to be upgrade from Y to C on LH flight YYZ-FRA…
TAP airlines has a great kit for kids. Crayons and cool games.
When I was 14, the flight attendant who was supposed to get me to my gate took me to the wrong terminal, leaving me stuck with an unexpected layover. I ended up getting two meal vouchers.
Best triple whopper I ever had.
My family just barely modified my prediction for half way to Hawaii DEN-KOA a few years ago. My family members got 1, 2, and 3, I didn’t place.
All of the goodies provided to business class customers from oversea airlines
Singapore was the first airline I’ve been on that wasn’t stingy with their food. I definitely capitalized that on my way to Korea last year.
On my first transatlantic flight, I got up to use the bathroom, and noticed a cart next to the galley with some soft drinks on it. I asked if I could have one, and she said yes! I was so happy. Honestly, even when later flying business class (I’ll have one champagin, please), it wasn’t as exciting as getting that whole can of coke on my first long haul flight.
Best freebee I got for sure was an upgrade o.
This was 13 years ago on Lufthansa on my first trip to US as a refugie from Bosnia just after the war. I am not sure why I got upgraded maybe because economy was oversold maybe it was a very generous gesture … In any case that and being able to come to United States were the best gifts i could imagine.
Also that began my fascination with flying.
Bottle of Dom from Emirates flight.
A tour of the flight deck for my 7 month old nephew on his first flight to his new home (AA 247).
Free First Class Upgrade on my Honeymoon
An upgrade UA Eu to SFO. I had just made star gold for the first time that week. An announcement was made for star gold to come forward. Bizarrely I was the only one – this was a LHR flight! When i presented my boarding pass there was a beep. My heart jumped – perhaps I was not really star gold, perhaps I was in the wrong queue. No. I was upgraded to business class. Why I don’t know. But it was a nice trip.
Upgrades on long flights!
A bag of chocolate covered nuts from LH J class. Wah wah wahhh. Sad, I know.
An RJ100 airplane model which is no longer available at that airline, after mentioning to one of their reps how sad I am to see these planes going away.
I received a Boeing model from Lufthansa.
On Delta 95 (BCN-JFK) the purser, a gorgeous elder lady, approached me with a bag of M&Ms saying it was from one of her FAs who wanted to say “hi”. I thanked her and asked why there was no note attached… a little later the FA came and gave me his number. Why he thought I needed the guy’s number I’ll never know, since I never called, but it was a cute gesture and thinking of it still makes me giggle…
Biscoff. Oh yeah, you’re with the high-rollers now.
Extra LH 1st PJs (after the FA accidentally spilled water on me).
A small 747 model plane from Pan Am many years ago.
So far, just the rubber ducky from LH. It would be great if I can get some company for my lonely ducky.
Shanghai Tang pajama from CX’s first class
BA club world amenity
When i was a kid, i got a travel size Mastermind game.
Delta fold up rain hat.
Long time ago, in the 60’s, on Delta, got a deck of playing cards on a flight from New Orleans to Montego Bay. I still have that deck of cards.
Upgrade from Y to C using the old UA paper upgrade certificates … and of course I was in possession of them!
My best freebie was on a recent multi stop trip to South America as we de-boarded many business class seats hadn’t opened their amenity kits and the crew let me take one. Which was nice.
Flying Virgin America in their “first” I got a plane shaped salt and pepper shaker which went to my great uncle in law who work for airplane manufacturers for most of his life.
I have helped myself to some UA blankets and headphones :/
A bottle of wine from a Delta FA back in the day.
The other half took the Noise Cancelling headphones off our recent VS flight, not knowing that she wasn’t mean to take them!
First class upgrade in the 90s on TWA
My BA First Class PJs -on a 3 hour flight to Moscow, booked on a reward flight saver!
A bottle of Lanson Black Champagne and a cockpit seat for landing at Funchal (Madeira) with the interesting aim for the mountains and then sharp left turn approach.
In 1983, an Airbus logo Victorinox keychain miniature “Swiss army nnife”/multi-tool — banned and relegated to non-flying duty since 9/11…
On an anniversary flight (in the SQA380 suite, which we booked thanks to the debacle last summer) the flight crew gave my wife and I the following goodies…
On board:
-Our own bottle of Dom
-A special anniversary cake
-A very nice double bed in the sky!
Take home:
-Four sets of SQ Givenchy PJs (two each)
-Four SQ Teddy Bears (two blue – boys; two red – girls)
-Two sets of AWESOME chopsticks – hard plastic with silver tips (featuring the SQ logo)
-Two chopstick holders – the silver ones with the SQ logo.
Needless to say, that was probably the best flight of my life. OK, showering on the EK A380 was nuts, but this was great too ๐
I got a nice Air Canada model airplane kit on a trip in 2000. It was a great little present for an airline enthusiast!
SQ back in the 90’s gave all Business Class passengers a gift. I got a clock, a passport case, bottle of wine, pen and pencil set. Some nice stuff. I still use the passport case.
wow people got some great freebies ๐
but here is mine:
On a NH flight from Tokyo my seat wouldnt recline on a full flight. So to apologize i got 3 amenity kits, Discountvoucer duty free, and tons of pens and other stuff they could find to keep me happy
perhaps nothing amazing but they where great on handeling the situation !
AA wings when I was a 12years old kid flying to the US with my parents. best present ever (at that moment)! ๐
Flying as a unaccompanied minor on Qantas, Singapore to Sydney. Upgraded me to first class from Business about 30 mins into the flight. First class only one other person, and the FA explained to me that they would be able to look after me better, and I overhead her saying I was well behaved. I was 8 at the time and it was the best present ever.
Bose headsets from AA a couple of years back.
liked them so much I am on my third set .
Last flight as Skywards Sliver on Emirates, managed to bag an op-up on BKK-DXB Y to J. Nice friendly crew, spoke at length with the cabin supervisor and wrote positive feedback about the crew. At the end of the flight, they packaged a F amenity kit, PJs, and A380 playing cards for me in a duty free bag, with a cheeky wink thrown in. Guess EK did give a lovely farewell gift before dropping me down to their lowest of tiers!
The best Freebie I got were the first class Pajamas from Lufthansa. I love them so.Mich that I still wear them.
I got lufthansa backpack, but was not freebie cost me 1p
I’m finding it hard to choose:
A copy of the Metro on bmi business class EDI-LHR
One of the mini bottles of Pommery ‘for the road’ on BA Club Europe
Salmonella from Galleries First (joking)
A selection of the little booze filled houses KLM gives out in business class (still sealed so can’t comment on the booze).
The morning after my dad’s funeral, I was heading YYZ-YVR. On check in, agent stated that I looked very tired. I said that I just buried my dad. A moment later, she handed me an business class upgrade on Air Canada’s new airbus 330 with lie flat seats. Although a day flight, I slept all the way to YVR. Thanks Air Canada.
Way back in the mid 90, JAL flight attendant gave my daughter a set of Hello Kitty amenities. She still keep them till now.
Lufthansa gave me a heavy duty rollerball pen in the Lufthansa original branding. Not quite as tasty as the chocolate easter bunnies they gave out when traveling over easter one year. ๐
It’s a toss up between the TG Rimowa amenity kits on my last FRA-BKK flights or the BA Concorde diary, pen and certificate I got at Mach 2 ๐
Korean music CD’s on OZ..
When flying Brussels Airlines (obviously) on a particularly light load, the very friendly purser gave me everything they had left in terms of chocolates. I managed to eat them all before my return flight but alas had no such luck going back.
I got nothing from LH the last 8 Flights
BA Amenity Kit
Ironically my ‘most appreciated’ airline freebie was when I turned up at the Lufthansa First Class Terminal in FRA smelly, unshaven and without any luggage at all.
I’d been on a highly delayed flight into FRA the night before on AirBerlin, who had also lost my luggage.
By the time I had landed in FRA, gone through the lost luggage forms procedure, given details of where it needed to be forwarded to in Canada, it was too late to get to the hotel booked, and the FCT opened in an hour or so. So I just walked to the FCT.
For once I think they knew this was someone wanting to visit the bathrooms not simply for the reason of getting a duck, but to actually have a proper wash.
Anyway, realising I had lost my luggage, and would probably be sans-items for at least a day in Montreal, they gave me a variety of clothes from at least 3 different types of amenity kits, (probably 6+ amenity and lost-luggage night packs opened to assemble a variety of items).
Got a duck too, but just a normal one, not as nice as this one…

In day-to-day terms, as a veggie the best thing is always when the cabin crew (on your last minute booked flight, beyond cut off to order a meal) will happily serve business class passengers a veggie sandwich from economy. Sadly I’ve also seen plenty of cabin crew who don’t do this – because the rules apparently say they can’t.
National airlines playing card deck, ten years after National Airlnes folded
I’d say at Delta T4X and the closing party I got a T4 American Apparel t-shirt, a stack of free drink vouchers, Delta pocketwatch and some other things too!
My two pair of Swiss pajamas.
Shanghai Tang PJs from Cathay
While on the last leg of a monster mileage run on AA the FA gave me a bottle wine to take home to my wife.
Beat freebie was a bottle of champagne and whote wine as we deplaned by UA on our Honeymoon in Mexico.
A plain American Airlines coffee mug shamelessly pilfered from business class in the 1990’s. It’s so rare to get a properly-sized coffee mug on an aircraft anymore …
Kid’s lollipops. FA was giving them out to the kids on the flight, but promissed to come back to me and my friend if she had some left over at the end. She did ๐
Zip, zilch, nada, nothing.
Plastic Easter Egg with free round trip ticket as a prize inside. So happened I was flying on Easter day back home.
On the BA misfiled fare a few years ago, they upgraded us from World Traveller Plus to Business class beds. Can’t ask for much more on a $25.00 USD roundtrip fare! And got our travel points to boot.
Playing cards
Meet by a rep of Air France when connecting at CDG and informed of a upgrade to FC on the A380 and taken to the La Premiรจre lounge.
That’s it! Flight attendants, Door to close please!
No more entries – time is up!
Winners to be announced later on!!!!
In 2010 on an AA flight from LAXto HNL I was moved from a regular economy seat to an exit seat row simply by asking. This particular flight did not have enhanced leg room economy seats and since I am tall, this was much appreciated.
Air Canada upgrade transatlantic to executive just for the asking!
Cathay Pacific First Class
Face-wash.
Cathay Pacific 1st class Shanghai Tang PJs.
Tsk tsk. Too late for the draw. Or maybe not.
