Singapore Airlines are to commence a service between Singapore and Athens, resuming a service between the two cities that was removed in October 2012.
The new timetable offers two flights a week over part of the Summer 2014 timetable:
SQ382 DEPART SIN 02:05 ARRIVE ATH 08:30 SQ381 DEPART ATH 13:00 ARRIVE SIN 04:55+1 Service Commences: 9th June 2014 Service Concludes: 9th October 2014 Service operates : Monday and Thursday only in both directions Booked Equipment : Boeing 777-200ER
As you can see, this is for summer traffic only, with a limited operation period. In addition, this will operate Singapore Airlines older Business and Economy class products – as this route is being provided by Boeing 777-200ER (of which there are multiple configurations of in the SQ fleet).
It offers a direct link to Singapore, with regional and long haul connections from there. For arrivals into Europe, it offers reasonable connections with Aegean’s services too.
However, there is also a lot of indirect competition on this route from the Eithad, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines – all of which could mean that this service remains seasonal only….
