Delta prepares flat seat-o-rama on domestic Trans-Continental routes

01/11/2013 by Kevincm

It looks like more flat bed seats are being rolled out as more Boeing 757-200 aircraft are being updated for US Trans-Continental runs.

This will allow Delta to roll out full flats on routes between New York and Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

Initially, the focus will focus on the heavily contested premium route of New York to Los Angeles, with the entire timetable to go flatbed in Business Elite

The timetable looks a bit like this:

New York to Los Angeles

DL424 DEPART JFK 07:00 ARRIVE LAX 1000 Boeing 767-400ER
DL472 DEPART JFK 08:15 ARRIVE LAX 1115 Boeing 767-400ER
DL422 DEPART JFK 09:30 ARRIVE LAX 1230 Boeing 757-200
DL423 DEPART JFK 12:00 ARRIVE LAX 1505 Boeing 757-200
DL447 DEPART JFK 15:15 ARRIVE LAX 1830 Boeing 767-400ER
DL477 DEPART JFK 16:45 ARRIVE LAX 2000 Boeing 757-200
DL417 DEPART JFK 18:15 ARRIVE LAX 2130 Boeing 767-400ER
DL427 DEPART JFK 21:00 ARRIVE LAX 0015+1 Boeing 767-400ER

Notes:
DL424 operates a Boeing 757-200 on Saturday
DL423 operates a Boeing 767-400ER on Saturday
DL427 does not operate Saturday

Los Angeles to New York
DL1762 DEPART LAX 06:45 ARRIVE JFK 15:20 Boeing 767-400ER
DL016 DEPART LAX 08:30 ARRIVE JFK 17:05 Boeing 767-400ER
DL862 DEPART LAX 11:10 ARRIVE JFK 19:45 Boeing 767-400ER
DL920 DEPART LAX 12:20 ARRIVE JFK 20:55 Boeing 767-400ER
DL2262 DEPART LAX 13:30 ARRIVE JFK 22:05 Boeing 757-200
DL2362 DEPART LAX 16:00 ARRIVE JFK 00:30+1 Boeing 757-200
DL1162 DEPART LAX 21:30 ARRIVE JFK 06:00+1 Boeing 757-200
DL1262 DEPART LAX 22:45 ARRIVE JFK 07:15+1 Boeing 767-400ER

DL862 operates a Boeing 757-200 on Saturday
DL2362 does not operate Saturday

The go-live for this 1st July 2014

For those you who pour over Global Distribution Systems, Expert Flyer or KVS, the equipment codes you are looking for are 76W for the 767-400ERs and 75W for the 757-200 with flat bed equipment.

The JFK-LAX route is contested by nearly all the major airlines (American, United, Delta and JetBlue) who are adding flat seats or are upgrading their products.

A good time for those who need to be on these premium routes.

Any thoughts on why they are so delayed on rolling these out for JFK-SFO-JFK?

I’d go down the line of waiting for enough equipment to be released to update the route ….
