Delta prepares to split across Heathrow – some services join Virgin Atlantic in T3

12/11/2013 by Kevincm

Delta looks like it is preparing to split its services across the Heathrow airport complex as it looks to begin the joint venture with Virgin Atlantic in April 2014.

And there’s a terminal shift-a-round for some Delta Services:

Services moving to Terminal 3

– London – New York JFK
– London – Boston
– London – Seattle

Other Delta services will continue to operate out of Terminal 4. These include:

– London – Atlanta
– London – Detroit
– London – Minneapolis/St. Paul
– London – Dallas (new, June 2014)

The new terminal operations go into effect from 2nd April 2014.

For business class passengers, they will be able to access the Virgin Clubhouse as their lounge in Terminal 3. For those departing from Terminal 4, the current SkyTeam lounge will remain your place to rest before flying.

Delta and Virgin Atlantic co-share out of New York JFK Terminal 4 already, so it was natural to move some flights over to Heathrow T3 too.

Combined, Delta and Virgin Atlantic will operate 7 flights a day on the London LHR to New York-JFK route, with two additional London LHR to Newark EWR services.

It’ll be interesting to see how the joint venture pans out for the two airlines. However, as United and British Airways knows at Heathrow, having different departing from different terminals can cause a lot of confusion….
