Day Three of the Dubai Air show has been and gone, and more orders trickle in as the week goes on.
- The widebody order of the day goes to Air Algerie who are to order three Airbus A330-200 as part of the airlines fleet renewal programme.
- TUI Travel meanwhile is to grow its 787 fleet with the addition of an extra two Boeing 787-8 aircraft, taking TUI’s orders for the class up to 15 in total.
- Bombardier has reason to cheer as Iraqi Airways has signed a letter of intent to take up 16 Bombardier CSeries CS300 aircraft. This is split into 5 orders, 5 options and 6 purchase rights. These will be two class, with 12 business and 120 economy seats, with delivery from 2016. Whilst not the greatest order for the type, it proves there is still interest in the CSeries aircraft.
- Nok Air launched the new high density/capacity Bombardier Dash8-Q400 series aircraft, with orders for 2 aircraft, options for 2 and purchase rights for 4. Those of you who like comfort might want to look away as the high density version of this aircraft calls for 86 passengers in a tight 29″ seat pitch. A version that will have 84 seats at 29″ seat pitch, with a larger cargo hold is planned.
- Part of Etihad’s mega-order with Airbus is to go to Air Serbia it seems, with 10 Airbus A320neo series aircraft to be diverted to Air Serbia as part of its fleet upgrade. These aircraft will allow leased aircraft which the carrier will be rebuilding to be returned
Not mega orders, but some important ones – especially for Bombardier as they try to CSeries more visible.
