Qatar Airways goes Scottish… and to Edinburgh

21/11/2013 by Kevincm

Qatar Airways will be connecting Edinburgh to its expanding network of services, with a 5 time weekly operation from late May 2014.

QR028 DEPART EDI 14:45 ARRIVE DOH 23:40DOH 788 x24

Service Commences: 28th May 2014
QR27/28 Operates: Monday, Wednesday, Friday Saturday and Sunday
Booked Equipment: Boeing 787-8

The service will be operated with a Boeing 787-8 aircraft, configured with:
– 22 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout
– 232 in economy class seats in 3-3-3 layout.

For those who want to connect in the Persian Gulf rather than at London Heathrow, this could be a very attractive option. The arrival time at Edinburgh is reasonable enough to connect with other airlines too.

It’ll be also the first of the Persian Gulf region airlines to serve the airport – with the Emirates preferring to serve Glasgow.

For those who are 787 watchers, this will also be Edinburgh Airport first schedule carrier service with a Boeing 787. Thomson have flown in their 787 on long haul routes before, but on a selected timetable basis.
