As open skies between Israel and the European Skies begin to take effect, the low cost carriers are sniffing around and tentatively dipping their toes into the market.
EasyJet is have a go at this from its Berlin Schoenefeld site (or what might be Berlin Brandenburg gate.. if they ever get the thing built to code).
The airline is planning a three flight a week route in both directions, with substantially different timings (even though the flight number is the same) starting on 4th February 2014

EasyJet have put in place an ambitious plan of routes, with departures from London Luton, Manchester, Basel, Geneva and Rome-Fiumicino. Whilst minnows to some carriers that travel there, it opens up the low cost option (and some might say EasyJet is the better face of low cost airlines, with assignable seats, reasonable customer service etc) to those who want to travel to the area.
This is having an impact as the BBC reported this week, with El-Al having to adjust in life in open skies land… with the additional wrinkle of a possible fight on short to medium haul routes….
