It’s attack of the regional and mid-sized planes as Delta begins preparing for the Winter 2014 timetable, with the announcement of 4 new routes from Dallas Love Field.
These are Dallas Love Field to:
- Detroit, 3 times a day operated with a Bombardier CRJ 900
- Los Angeles, 5 times a day, operates with a Embarer E-175
- Minneapolis 3 times a day operated with a Bombardier CRJ 900
- New York La Guardia, 5 times a day, operates with a Embarer E-175
In addition, the Dallas to Atlanta route will gain a capacity boost, as well as a well, with the route to provide a six time daily route (up from five), and upgrading the plane to mainline service – using Boeing 717s.
The changes will take effect from 13th October 2014, with some frequencies starting one day later.
Whilst a lot of us don’t like growth through regional jets – they do provide a link to the bigger hubs – which in the case of all bar one of the routes (New York-LGA) provide reasonably timed connections to both local and international connections.
Whilst it won’t challenge Dallas Love Field’s main resident – Southwest Airlines – it provides those who fly the widget a few extra options.

inflight seating experience in both the 900 & 175 w/ 2-1 in 1st, 2-2 in Coach, qualitatively, is quite similar IMO to what i expected in the 717 (based on the MD80 DL & AA) 2-2 1st, 2-3 in Coach.
