Etihad increases network coverage with three new destinations

17/12/2013 by Kevincm

Etihad is doing more of the “flying its own aircraft” to destinations, with the announcement of three new routes commencing for the Summer 2014 season.

Three new destinations will be added to the Etihad destination map: Jaipur, Rome and Yerevan.

Jaipur will be first out of the blocks:

EY208 DEPART AUH 23:00 ARRIVE JAI 03:45+1
EY207 DEPART JAI 04:45 ARRIVE AUH 06:45

Commences 1st April 2014from AUH, 2nd April from JAI
Operates Daily
Booked Equipment: Airbus A320

Also operating with an Airbus A320 will be services to Yerevan

EY298 DEPART AUH 22:30 ARRIVE EVN 0255+1 EVN 320 x246
EY299 DEPART EVN 04:10 ARRIVE AUH 0615 AUH 320 x357

Commences 2nd July 2014
EY298 operates Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday
EY299 operates Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
Booked Equipment: Airbus A320

The A320s are configured in

  • 8 “Pearl” Business Class recliner seats with 49″ seat pitch in a 2-2 formation
  • 120 “Coral” Economy Class seats with 32″ seat pitching in a 3-3 formation

Seats are configured with an AVOD product on board.

Lastly, but not least – the Rome-Fiumicino service, starting in mid-July 2014:

EY083 DEPART AUH 02:40 ARRIVE FCO 07:10
EY084 DEPART FCO 12:00 ARRIVE AUH 19:55

Commences 15th July 2014
Operates Daily
Booked Equipment: Airbus A330-200

The A330s are much more of a traditional wide-body aircraft are configured in

  • 20 “Pearl” Business Class seats with 70″ seat pitch in a 1-2-1 formation
  • 240 “Coral” Economy Class seats with 32″ seat pitching in a 2-4-2 formation

Again, its good to see Etihad operating as an airline, as opposed to buying bits of airlines and getting them to fly on their behalf. Whilst not the massive expansion of Emirates, this is a much more measured expansion, which in some ways is a good thing.

Combined with the addition of Perth (Australia) and Zurich joining the Etihad network, there could be some interesting offerings for those who are looking for 2014 destinations.
