Emirates adds A380 operation to London… Gatwick

27/12/2013 by Kevincm

It seems that Emirates is expanding its footprint at Gatwick airport, by changing one of the rotations from a Boeing 777-300ER to an Airbus A380

The new timetable goes into effect from 30th March 2013

Dubai – London Gatwick
EK011 DEPART DXB 02:50 ARRIVE LGW 07:20 Boeing 777-300ER
EK015 DEPART DXB 08:00 ARRIVE LGW 12:30 Boeing 777-300ER
EK009 DEPART DXB 15:00 ARRIVE LGW 19:30 Airbus A380

London Gatwick - Dubai
EK012 DEPART LGW 10:00 ARRIVE DXB 19:50 Boeing 777-300ER
EK016 DEPART LGW 14:25 ARRIVE DXB 00:25+1 Boeing 777-300ER
EK010 DEPART LGW 21:15 ARRIVE DXB 07:20+1 Airbus A380

Operates Daily
Operates with all Boeing 777-300ER equipment to 29th March 2014
A380 operation change on EK009/EK010 commences 30th March 2014

A380 operation from Gatwick will vary between two aircraft. Initially, Emirates will operate a version of the A380 which holds 489 passengers, whilst from the 1st August, this switches to a 517 seater A380.

For Gatwick – which is boosting its profile – this is one heck of a big win as this will be the first operator who will regularly operate the A380 in and out of the airport.

Combined, this will have an effective 7 times daily frequency a day from Dubai to the London Area, with four of the services operated by an Airbus A380.

That’s still a lot of seats to fill…
