For those of us in the UK who shop at Tesco it’s coming to that time of the year where they begin to tot up how many clubcard points you’ve earned through their loyalty scheme, and convert them into vouchers that can be used
The deadline for earning clubcard points that will post by Saturday – thus meeting this end of quarter collection period is today (23rd January 2014).
Tesco Clubcard vouchers have many uses (apart from being used in the store), with some reasonable travel related conversions that allow you to transfer points into vouchers or points:
- £2.50 of vouchers will yield 600 Avios in British Airways Executive Club or in the main Avios Scheme
- £2.50 of vouchers will yield 625 Virgin Flying Club Points
- £10 of vouchers will give you a £15 Monarch Air voucher
- £5 of vouchers will give you a £10 RedSpottedHankey Voucher, useful for Rail Travel or £10 to spend on Megabus UK
- £10 of vouchers will give you a £30 voucher to use on EuroTunnel, Stenna Line, P&O Irish Ferries, Irish Ferries, Whitelink
More travel options are listed at http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/new-year-travel/
There are currently no Avios or Virgin Flying Club bonuses out there (and no decent uplift bonuses for some time if truth be known). This has the side effect of people stacking Tesco vouchers up – which isn’t a good ideas as they have a two year expiry from issue rule. It’s best to check your Clubcard account (and have your clubcard on you as they check digits).
Those of you with expiring vouchers, I advise spending them – either on Avios or FlyingClub miles, or RedSpotted Hanky Vouchers if you use the train.
Or even spend them in store.
Just don’t let them go to waste…
