Air France to use a high capacity 747 to Ajaccio.

27/01/2014 by Kevincm

You’re probably wondering where the heck is Ajaccio? It’s in Corsica, and as such is classed as a French domestic destination.

But to shift people to Ajaccio, Air France is needs some serious muscle over the summer months.

Therefore, Air France are turning to Corsair to hire a Boeing 747-400 to go between the two destinations over the summer:

AF4508 DEPART ORY 1255 ARRIVE AJA 1430
AF4509 DEPART AJA 1655 ARRIVE ORY 1830

Operates FRIDAYS only
Operates between 4th July 2014 and 5th September 2014.

There have been a lot of rumblings about the capacity of the aircraft – with some people fearing it was going to 582 seater configuration. Airline Routes have indicated this will in fact operate the slightly less dense 533. Which is… better? (for lack of a nicer word…)

Although this is nothing really in terms of capacity. All Nippon Airlines 747-400Ds were rated for 660 passengers aboard their aircraft. I’m still trying to figure out how you can squeeze that many people aboard.

For those who don’t want to be crammed in tight and enjoy smaller aircraft, other options from the Paris region include EasyJet and XL Airways (from Paris CDG) and Air Corsica (from Paris Orly).

But 533 seats still. Heck, there are A380s in the sky with less seats than that installed….
