For those of use who still hold MBNA Diamond Club Credit Cards (or the old BMI Mastercard, BMI Visa/Amex card), there’s something I haven’t been taking advantage of… and you need to as it saves money.
How does 10% off BA Flights sound? I like that too… so it’s a good idea take advantage of it…
Firstly, you’ll need to head to your Diamond Club account at http://www.diamondclub.org and then log in.
At the top of your screen you’ll see a lovely banner
As the link behind the banner is customised, it’s a matter of clicking the link to be taken to an almost familiar booking screen:
Notice at the top: MBNA Diamond Club – which indicates you’ve hit the right portal.
Enter your destinations (for the best discounts – book long haul flights. Short Haul flights savings will be pennies of savings)
Here’s a savings comparison: LHR-SIN, Outbound 3rd April, Return 22 April. Outbound priced segment shown only.
Without the MBNA Discount:
And now with the MBNA Diamond Club Discount:
Price WT WT+ CLUB Normal price: £523 £954 £2372 MBNA DC: £490 £874 £2297 ========================================= SAVINGS £33 £80 £75 Route: LHR-SIN, Depart 4th April 2014, Return 22nd April 2014 Outbound prices shown only.
Note: Whilst some of the Club World fares are not marked as discounted, some of them are showing up as such. Digging of course is required.
As you probably noted from the banner image you clicked on, you only get discount on the air fare basis only. This means things like Air Passenger Duty, Fuel Duty and all other taxes are still payable. And if you pay by your MBNA Credit card, you’ll still be liable for the £4.50 fee that BA tack onto credit card bookings.
This discount also cannot be stacked with Quidco/TopCashBack etc.
For those who want this credit card for the savings (and the cheapest way of getting Avios), and don’t possess it, MBNA does not issue this card any more to new applicants.
Still, for those of us with MBNA Diamond Club/BMI Credit cards, it’s a useful benefit – sometimes forgotten about way too many times in the rush to book a ticket…

I’m glad you picked up on this as I never knew before. Though for my AMS-LON trips with a base fare of £1, I’m not sure it’ll benefit me too much!

Even though its a £1 fare each way (so £2… or 20p), that’s still better than what Quidco I got back from Flybe (£50 flight… £12.89 fare… cashback of … 13p!)
