Korean Air is set to increase capacity between Seoul Incheon and New York-JFK, as it will be converting all its flight operations between the two airport to operate Airbus A380s.
The change goes into effect on 25th May 2014, based on the following timetable
Seoul Incheon to New York-JFK KE081 DEPART ICN 10:05 ARRIVE JFK 11:20 KE085 DEPART ICN 19:30 ARRIVE JFK 20:45 New York-JFK to Seoul Incheon KE086 DEPART JFK 00:50 ARRIVE ICN 04:10+1 KE082 DEPART JFK 14:00 ARRIVE ICN 17:20+1 Commences 25th May 2014 Booked Equipment from 25th May - Airbus A380-800
Up until the switch, flight KE085/086 will continue to operate as timetabled with a Boeing 777-300ER.
As well as the A380s heading to New York, there are other changes to some departures from Seoul Incheon airport:
– Chicago swaps from a Boeing 777-300ER to a 777-200ER between 30th March and 31st May, 1st September to 25th October
– Dubai switches to an Airbus A330-200 for its five weekly service from 30th March, dropping to four weekly between 1st July and 18th August
– Guam operates as a Boeing 747-400 from 30th March for the entire summer season
– Seattle goes daily from 1st June, operating a Boeing 777-200ER
– Vancouver operates a Boeing 747-400 between 20th June and 8th September
– Washington Dulles will operate a Boeing 777-200 Monday to Thursday, whilst Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the flight will operate using Boeing 777-300ER equipment
There’s a lot of changes there – and maybe chances for some decent redemption if you can find space.
Certainly something not to write off…

Typo. Should been 777-300ER to a 777-200ER. Fixed. Thanks

This makes me wonder how Asiana will respond. Is there really that much demand for ICN-JFK that it can handle two 380s and a 777 daily?
