It seems that Ryanair has got approval from aviation authorities regarding the use of personal electronic devices during all flight.
This is effective from 6th February 2014 (today).
This covers devices such as tablet computers, e-book readers, MP3 players and smartphones. As usual, these devices must be in flight mode at all times.
Items such as laptops are not termed as PED’s and must be stowed.
Ryanair are rather jolly about this with Robin Kiely said:
“Ryanair customers can now use their personal electronic devices at all stages of their flight, while they enjoy their allocated seats, our low fares and on-time arrivals. The IAA is one of the first regulatory authorities in the world to approve this measure and we wish to commend them for their initiative. We are working hard to improve our service to all customers and today’s PED approval is the latest in a series of changes which we know our customers will love.”
Ryanair join British Airways and Lufthansa on European airlines that have approved the use of PED’s during all stages of flight.
Well it’s something to keep your eyes on as opposed to the interior of a Ryanair plane…
