Delta forgets to put a non US flight through US Immigration

25/02/2014 by Kevincm

One of the things I like about going from Dublin, or flying British Airways Flight 1 is the ability to pre-clear US immigration, and speed my arrival when coming into the United States of America.

Well it seems Delta did one better than that recently, by clearing a plane-load of passengers from London Heathrow as a domestic arrival.

Delta flight DL3 arrived at JFK, and was cleared to disembark at terminal 4, and with its passengers directed to US Domestic Luggage Claim, skipping past immigration, customs and all other formalities according to CBS

It seems the mess-up by the ground staff required everyone who was aboard to identified and then sent through the correct channels.

Whilst this probably is just a mess up, it does show the weakest point in defending any border are the people who guide you through it….

Although with Delta beginning a move to all-revenue mileage programme (See InsideFlyer and One Mile at a Time), this is probably the only benefit you’ll see…
