Skymark Airlines of Japan international ambitions took a step closer, as their first Airbus A380 rolled out of the hanger for the first time.

The airline will be the first Japanese operator of the Airbus A380 when the aircraft is tested, had its engines mounted and a paint job.
The airline has six A380s on order in a very lightly packed configuration:
- 114 Business class seats on the upper deck (planned to be angled lie-flat seat)
- 240 Premium Economy Seats on the lower deck (planned to be fixed shell)
Seating types – CAPA
As for the routes, Skymark is planning to deploy these aircraft to the USA in the first instance.
The airline has a focused Japanese Domestic network, operating Boeing 737-800s in dense configurations – whilst it is on the verge of rolling out 271 seater all premium economy Airbus A330-300.
Skymark has a limited relationship with Delta (allowing the redemption of Skymiles on Skymark, with no reciprocal relationship), and no other alliance or codeshare partners.
This could be a tough one to sell, unless Skymark have a much better reading of the market than I can see…
