Air Canada delays 787 operations to Heathrow for a month

03/03/2014 by Kevincm

For those of you looking forward to riding aboard Air Canada’s brand new Boeing 787 Dreamliners, there’s going to be a bit of a delay.

Originally, Dreamliner services were due to commence on the 1st April 2014. This has been now pushed back to 1st May 2014, to operate until 30th June 2014.

The revised timetable looks like this:

Toronto Pearson to London Heathrow
AC868 DEPART YYZ 08:55 ARRIVE LHR 2100 Boeing 767-300ER
AC856 DEPART YYZ 18:30 ARRIVE LHR 0625+1 SEE BELOW
AC848 DEPART YYZ 20:40 ARRIVE LHR 0835+1 Boeing 787-8
AC858 DEPART YYZ 23:10 ARRIVE LHR 1105+1 Boeing 777-300ER

AC856 operates Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday using 787-8
AC856 operates Monday and Tuesday using a Boeing 777-200LR
All other departures operate daily with specified equipment

London Heathrow to Toronto Pearson
AC869 DEPART LHR 08:30 ARRIVE YYZ 11:15 SEE BELOW
AC857 DEPART LHR 12:05 ARRIVE YYZ 14:50 Boeing 787-8
AC849 DEPART LHR 15:00 ARRIVE YYZ 17:40 Boeing 777-300ER
AC859 DEPART LHR 18:00 ARRIVE YYZ 21:00 Boeing 767-300ER

AC869 Operates Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a 787-8
AC869 operates Tuesday and Wednesday with a 777-200LR

Whilst I don’t fly Air Canada these days since I swapped affiliation from Star Alliance to Oneworld, I always thought that Air Canada offers one of the best experiences from a North American carrier in terms of IFE, seating and facilities down the back of the plane (if the food portions are slightly on the small side).

In fact – I still do compared to the competition in the United States (having sampled American, United and US Airways at their best and worst… only one I haven’t done is Delta).

Still – for those seeking the Air Canada 787 to Heathrow, there’s a slight delay….
