Comair of South Africa will become the first African operator of the Boeing 737MAX series, with an order of eight aircraft to join their fleet.
The eight aircraft will join the Comair fleet to be used by kulula.com (Comair’s low cost fleet) and by Comair’s British Airways Franchised service (making these the first Boeing 737-MAX aircraft to go into BA colours).

As pat of the order, there is also an additional four Boeing 737-800s to be joining the fleet.
The 737-800s will join in 2015-2016, whilst the 737 MAX 8s will join between 2019-2022.
Comair operates a fleet of Boeing 737 classics (made up 7 737-300s, 9 737-400s, 1 737-800), whilst Kulula operate a fleet of 9 737-800s and one 737-400.
For the carrier, it’s a major investment in both its arms as it continues to make its own future both as a British Airways franchise and its own low-cost carrier – going up against rivals such as Mango and of course South African Airways.
