Its been a busy day for All Nippon Airlines who have opened up the cheque book to order more aircraft – with Boeing and Airbus getting orders.
On order from the Boeing company will be a variety of aircraft including:
- 6 Boeing 777-300ERs
- 20 Boeing 777-9X series
- 14 Boeing 787-9s Dreamliners
- Total: 40 Aircraft
The 777-9Xs are the first order from Japan for the next generation of Boeing 777 Family, used to replace existing 777-300ERs in the fleet. The extra 787-9s will take ANA’s fleet to 80 Boeing 787 Dreamliners of both types in the fleet.

However, there is an interesting part to the order which Airbus is to complete – and that’s for Airbus A320neo and A321neos, split as follows:
- 7 Airbus A320neo
- 23 Airbus A321neo
- Total: 30 Aircraft

The A320 is used by ANA in an all economy configuration. Both the new A320/A321neos will take over from these aircraft as well as existing Boeing 737-500s used by the airline.
Engine selections have not been made for the 787s nor A320neo family aircraft. This is expected to firmed up when the formal order is made.
As for a delivery time-line? From 2016 to 2027.
A bit of a wait for some….
