It seems British airways is putting up the price of cancelling redemptions, with the cancellation fees going up from £25 to £35 per ticket.

What’s more this change applies to not only Ruby and Silver members – but also to Gold members. Gold Guest List and Premier members seem to be unaffected by this change.
This change applies on both BA operated and oneworld redemptions.
Example on BA metal, LHR-LAX, Economy, 18th September – 22nd September
Example on AA metal, ORD-DCA, “First”, 18th September – 22nd September
Note that the change is not apply to existing bookings.
This is not a good day for BA Gold cardholders as it does erode some the flexibility the product has for those who make speculative bookings, or whose circumstances change often.
Suffice to say if you have bookings coming up being very certain of the dates otherwise you got some hefty cancellation and rebooking fees ahead.
Perhaps what’s most annoying about this is the lack of notice of the change of policy. Wonderful communication there British Airways…

Wasn’t it before you only lost the service fee? I cancelled tickets within the US and only lost the $5 fee used to book the award.

I cancelled a US award and only got charged the $5 booking fee. This was last week. Strange.
