It’s ticking over into Monday, but that means we can have a bit more Airplane Art.
As the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner testing continues, the launch customer has had its first plane painted up. The launch customer being Air New Zealand.
Air New Zealand’s design may just involve the colours Black and White, but it is certainly striking, with the New Zealand fern striking out in white, with the rest of the body in black…

The majority of the fleet will be painted with the body in white and the fern tail in white on a black background, whilst a select number will be in the Air New Zealand’s signature “All Black” paintwork.
Air New Zealand have 10 Boeing 787-9s on order. The aircraft is 20 feet/6 meters longer than the baseline 787-8, able to carry up to 40 more passengers, and 300 more miles.
Deliveries to Air New Zeland will begin in the middle of this year (2014), with Air New Zealand being the launch customer of the Boeing 787-9.
And you’ve got to admit… it does look rather striking.
