A heavy Lufthansa landing…

11/04/2014 by Kevincm

There are some who say “any landing you walk away from is a good one”.

I suppose these Lufthansa pilots landing this Airbus A340-600 would be saying that after this landing at Tokyo Narita Airport in heavy crosswinds…

That has got to smart.

The plane – D-AIHR – rolled safely to the gate with all passengers and crew safe. However, due to the stress of the landing, the plane was taken out of service due to overstress damage on the landing gear.

Still… ouch….

…still, hard as they came down it looks like those pilots pulled that off pretty perfectly, doesn’t it? I mean outside from all the passengers with sore bottoms, that plane was perfectly level. That Thai one where the 380 was wobbling all over…that was a doozie

The pilots did an excellent job getting that crate down. Crosswinds are a nasty thing… (as I found out on the Biman DC10. That was a rough landing…)
