Another day, and another set of codeshares have been announced, with US Airways and British Airways codesharing between each other.
British Airways Airbus A380 at Heathrow
US Airways Airbus A321 taxing at Chicago O’Hare
The code-shares will place British Airway’s code on forty routes operated by US Airways within North America and Caribbean, whilst US Airways codes will be put on 70 British Airways routes through to Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The first set of codeshares will be on Transatlantic routes from 14th May from US Airways hubs of Charlotte and Philadelphia, whilst US Airways code will be placed on British Airways flights on 21 routes.
Other routes will be phased in over the summer timetable.
It’s a reflection of the growth of the Transatlantic Joint Business Agreement, that US Airways joined in March this year (also as part of the AA/US Merger), which is made up of American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and US Airways.
For those who like simpler connections and one place to buy tickets, it will make travel a bit more easier. Earnings will be as the award charts of the two airlines with Miles/Avios/Tier points as specified in each others tables.

Don’t you imagine that this will end the US Airways award ticket fuel surcharge savings.
